MMBC Music Ministry

The MMBC Music Ministry consists of several committed and dedicated singers and instrumentalists to lead the congregation in praise and worship, and serve the church whenever needed. Our music ministry team yields to the flow of the Holy Spirit in each worship service and encourages the congregation to enter into God’s presence through spirit-filled worship.

Membership in all of our choirs/teams is open at all times during the year and new members are especially welcomed.

Our Music Groups

1st Sunday & 3rd Sunday Choir 

This group, under the musical leadership of Sis. Glorious Leaven, sings mostly traditional syle worship songs.

This group, under the musical leadership of Sis. Monet Alvin sings mostly contemporary style worship songs.

Meet the Musicians

  • Monet Alvin

    Minister of Music

    Monet Hardison Alvin has served as a pianist at MMBC since she was 12 years old. She currently serves as the 2nd, 4th, and 5th sunday pianist for Manhollow Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoys both traditional and contemporary songs and often creates medleys that blend the two styles together. In addition to music ministry, Monet also assists with our MMBC youth ministry in an effort to teach young people about the goodness of Jesus through song, movement, and creative lessons.

    When she is not making music or nuturing children, Monet enjoys watching Reality TV with her husband, going to Starbucks with her dog (Muffy), spending time with her family, or reading a good book!

  • Glorious Leaven

    Pianist

    Ms. Glorious Leaven has served as a pianist at MMBC for many years. She currently serves as the 1st and 3rd Sunday pianist at Manhollow. Ms. Leaven knows a vast reportoire of traditional songs and shines in leading the congregation in that style of music. In addition to the MMBC music ministry, Ms. Leaven also serves as the lead person for our annual homecoming celebrations, and she is a faithful member of the MMBC Mother Board.

  • Alexandria Turnage

    Drummer

    Psalm 150:5 instructs God’s people to praise him with loud and vibrant percussion, and Sis. Alex Turnage does exactly that! Thanks to her musical talents, all of our choirs stay on beat and in sync! Alex has served as the main drummer at MMBC for several years, and she is an instrumental part of the team.

    When she is not making music, Alex enjoys spending time with her beautiful family, especially her husband and son.

  • Kimberly Murphy

    Pianist

    Friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, Dr. Kimberly Murphy assists our music ministry not only through preaching and singing, but also through playing piano!

    In addition to serving in the music ministry, our gifted first lady, also serves as the lead for the MMBC women’s ministry.
